I've not bought a Transformer in two months, maybe three. I've not ordered Sky Lynx, nor have I ordered any other toy that might not show up in a Wal-Mart. I probably won't buy the reissue of Omega Supreme, even though it's a toy I've wanted for ages. I think the reason for this (because experience teaches me that it's not self-control), is simply because I'm so discouraged at the movie aesthetic. Even though I bought a lot of the line when it was first released, I've not been able to bring myself to drop even $10 on the newer deluxes, much less more for various repaints and remolds. I mean, there are three $40 Optimus repaints! I got the first one free (somehow), and I'll certainly not be spending $40 to get a blue version or a version with a blade hand.
So what this comes down to is that the Transformers movie has kind of forced a hiatus on me. It comes at the right time - we're about to owe the hospital $1700+ after the baby comes in March, and I need to save for law school, since I'll not be allowed to work while I attend.
If Alternators, Classics, or even the Titanium lines had continued in the wake of the movie, I'd have probably kept up buying them. However, since all of those lines are ended, I've started divesting myself of the lesser figures from each line (or in the case of the Titaniums, all of the non-Optimus figures). I look forward to Animated and Classics II, but at this point, I'm not sure if I'll be buying any of them, regardless of how wonderful they might be.
Damn it, Hasbro, why did you have to put all of your resources behind the movie? I mean, it's great to save money and all, but I miss buying my Transformers.

I took a pass on the movie line as well, although I broke down and bought some of the G1 homage repaints. I enjoyed the movie, but I didn't like the robot design. I can't decide where to jump back in though, since I'm not as thrilled with the Animated toys (I do like the cartoon, so I might get them anyway) and I'm not digging our first look at Classics 2 Sunstreaker. It might be time to hang it up, as I've run out of storage space anyway (Have you SEEN my storage space? It's roomier than Paris Hilton...).
