Veronica goes to Washington, part 6

Yesterday morning was our last in Washington, DC. We had originally intended to be on the road by 7, but instead, decided to have breakfast with Alexander Stadler. He visited Lori's school two years ago, and they've kept in touch since. It was wonderful to meet him; it seems that he and I share a bit of our sense of humor.

Breakfast with Alexander and Joan - 1

At one point during the meal, the conversation turned to the Transformers movie, and Alexander asked how old I was, to get an idea of how much I grew up with the Transformers cartoon. When I said, "I'm 29; I'm 29 today, in fact," Lori turned to me with wide eyes and said, "Oh my God, I forgot. Happy birthday!". She was then laughed at for at least five minutes by everyone at the table.

Once we took our leave of Alexander, we went back to the Stacks, where folks were giving things away left and right, because they didn't want to have to take them home. We loaded up with about 30 pounds more of free books, then made our way back to the hotel and got on the road.

Due to a stop at an outlet mall on the way back, we didn't actually get home until about 11 last night. We put Veronica to bed, brought the stuff inside, and crashed.

The end.
